Stop Running Away

Have you ever herd the concept “defense system”? They are basically behaviors, reactions or attitudes that people just like that when our brain perceive danger. Most of the time, this danger is referring to something emotional, ideological or about our self. For example: When someone confront you for something that you didn’t do. Your defense system could be to react violently, act in a defensive way or maybe that since then you avoid the person and cut off all the communication, etc.

Thinking of this, I realize that I have more defense systems that I am willing to admit, but my deeper question is: How many wounds are still open in order to protect them with all of this defense systems? Like me, I think that many people are in the same spot: Facing old infected wounds, not because we are so willing to resolve them, but because of the situations that we are immersed like the place, the time or the season in our lives. As humanity, we are going through a transition that most of the time looks and feel slow, heavy and overwhelming. Maybe you still looking for a job, or the one that you already have socks, maybe things at home are more and more difficult or the project that you have is not even started and you don´t have the way to know when is going to start because of covid, maybe you want to be a missionary but the country where God is calling you is close…

All of this can be mixing between them to “take out the worst of you” but, Is it really the worst that you can live? I don’t think so. At the contrary, I believe that God gave us this precious time to process, heal and face the hard things that we probably couldn’t have faced any other way. His Word says: “He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our pregnant condition, and keeps us present before God. That’s why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good. Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God’s Spirit is right alongside helping us along” Romans 8:28MSG He is our Father and we have the change to believe him.

So, my words for you today are: Don’t give up, stop running away from yourself, from your darkness and from the things that you cannot resolve, don’t be afraid of failure and don’t look for refuge in placer, in postponement or passivity. Take action, face God just like Jacob did and many others were transformed when allowed God touched the sensitive parts of their beings. Otherwise, you could keep living, but you’ll not experience the fullness truth for your life, the one that frees you and make you responsible of your actions, motivations, attitudes, thoughts and desires. Get rid of all the defense systems used like mask and dare yourself to know your real you, the one that could live in complete freedom.
